Astrid & Alex

We’re just two crazy Yanks who decided to up-and-move across the pond. It’s been a dream of ours for a long time, and when the right opportunity came alone, we jumped!

I can’t believe we’ve been here for two years now – and blogging the whole time! While it started as a simple, personal  blog for our friends and families to keep in touch with us, it’s turned into a journal of our adventures. It also explains all about what it’s like to move to London, and a few funny stories of life as an ex-pat.

On that note, enjoy our adventures. We’re hoping to see lots of cool stuff and do a great deal, and perhaps even take a train or two.

Hey Astrid and Alex. I’m currently underway on a project about the population density of Nicaragua and require one of the photographs on your website. It is solely for educational purposes and is behind a password-protected firewall.

  6. HI Team, I am an archive researcher for a documentary for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation called The Gallery of Everyday Things. The animation team I am working with have found an image on your blog that they would like to use of a hogs head. I was wondering if there is a possability to gain permission that we could use this image? If you could please touch base with me that would be wonderful.Kind Regaerds, Sian Gard Ms Sian Gard ARCHIVIST Great Western Entertainment

  8. Hi, stumbled on your photograph of John Betjeman at St Pancreas Station and I wondered if you would mind if I were to use it to advertise an evening of Betjeman’s poetry readings which will be part of the Ilkley Literature Festival ( West Yorkshire) in October 2013? I would obviously credit you on the poster
Looking forward to hearing from you

  9. Hello Astrid and Alex,

I am an illustrator/graphic designer from London, UK. I am working on a project with London based singer/songwriter Karima Francis, who has a distinctively country/americana sound. I came across one of your photos of the Mendoza mountains…(
It is an absolutely beautiful shot and something that myself and Karima would really like to use in her artist logo.

I could not find any other means of contact apart from the comment feature here on the blog, but I really hope this reaches you so we can gain your permission for use.

Please contact me at, I look forward to hearing from you both.

    Many thanks,

    Amber Anderson
