Berlin’s Museum Insel

Museum Insel (that’s Museum Island, for the non-Deutsch speakers) is the small island in the center of the River Spree in the heart of Berlin. It doesn’t really appear to be an island — kind of like Notre Dame in Paris is technically on an island, but it’s not obviously so — and the River Spree is pretty narrow on both sides of the island. Most of the major museums in Berlin are on or near this spot, which makes it convenient when you are bustling from one to the other in the cold!
