Feeding Andy to the Lions
Wednesday was our last day with Andy and Courtney, and I must admit it was a bit of a rush trying to fit in all the stuff we wanted to do! We stopped by the food halls at Harrods and admired the really expensive wines and whiskys, and we dipped in to the National Gallery to gawk at some naked ladies. Then Andy climbed up top of the lions in Trafalgar Square for the required photos, and he even (oh so bravely) stuck his head in the lion’s mouth!
I can’t even tell you how much we’ve enjoyed having friends visiting for a week. It’s been fun showing them around “our” London, but it’s been even more fun just hanging out and sharing a meal (and perhaps a pint or two) and talking! I think, of everything we left behind in the States, it’s the friendships that we miss the most.
One of our last stops was at the Brass Rubbing Centre at St. Martin in the Fields. I LOVE doing brass rubbings, but I’ve never gotten Alex to do one with me. Andy and Courtney even cooperated and did a lovely Celtic Scroll … they’re going to hang it in the “man cave” back in Nashville. Oh, someday I think I’m going to have to visit Tennessee just to see that!
