Alex: In Hat

Last Saturday we took Andy and Courtney over to Portobello Road Market, which is one of my favorite things to do in London. We went really early this time to try and avoid the crowds; there were still a lot of stalls setting up for the day! And we almost froze. But other than that, we had a lovely time.  But the best thing to come out of that day was this: Alex bought a hat!  I’ve been bugging him for months and months to think about getting a hat, and Courtney picked this one out of the pile and it’s a perfect fit. Alex thinks he looks like a golfer, but I say that’s he’s so obviously NOT a golfer, no one will be confused.

The hat is doubly important now, because today we got the results of the biopsy on his nose. As you can see from the picture, the biopsy is healing nicely, but unfortunately the diagnosis is Basal Cell Carcinoma. Now don’t panic just because it’s cancer, it’s actually not one of the really bad skin cancers.  He’ll probably have to have surgery to remove more skin area on his nose, but hopefully it won’t be too bad.

  1. Alex–snappy hat! I approve. I hope you’ve been telling people that it was a pub brawl that nicked your nose. You know those hot-headed Americans, right?
