Yesterday, July 23, marks our six month anniversary here in London! Yes, it was exactly half a year ago that a bleary-eyed Alex wandered out of Heathrow, and our family was back together again and ready to start our new life here in the UK.
On one hand it feels like yesterday, because we’ve been so busy the time has just flown by. On the other hand, it feels like we’ve already been here forever, because everything is so comfortable already. And in case we don’t say it often enough, WE LOVE IT HERE!
I think we both feel very much at home in London, and in Europe in general. We’ve traveled so much — and seen so many things — in such a short time. The best part is that we still both get a little thrill … just once in a while … when we realize “Wow! We did! We’re here and we’re living our life together and it’s everything we ever hoped for!”
We talk about what exactly it is about London that we love so much, because in many ways it’s a big city very much like New York. I think the conclusion is that while New York has a lot of stuff going on, London has more of OUR KIND of stuff. The kinds of museums we like, the kinds of concerts we’re interested in, and most especially: all of that stuff is reachable by train!
We’ll be celebrating by spending the weekend in Glasgow. There is a tour of a Whisky factory on the schedule, so I can’t promise any sober posts, but we’ll do our best. I am determined to try some haggis, so wish us luck!
