That whole happiness thing…

I’ve tried really hard to make this blog personal and friendly, and not to use it as my own personal Speaker’s Corner, or to clutter it up with links to things that you simply must read right now!!

However, I can’t resist linking to this article, by Rebecca Traister on Salon.com.  She talks about how women pursue happiness, and generally fail at it. It seems that every decision you make, whether it’s getting married, having children, or moving to a different country, you’re going to struggle with the messages that society sends. No matter which side you take, it’s the wrong one, and you’re going to end up unhappy.  But the author here suggests that maybe unhappiness isn’t the worst thing — it is ia great motivator, after all.

I really liked this article, since it speaks to a number of issues that I grapple with on a fairly regular basis. I’m not going to go on about it, but please read it if you have a few moments. I’m sure you’ve all been there, too.
