Super Monday!

I’m so excited to start work tomorrow!  It’s been three very long months for me — I wish I could have enjoyed them more, but I’m just not the kind of person who can sit around and do nothing.  I think the company is a good one, and I got several emails last week from my new manager saying how excited he was for me to be coming — so I think that’s a good sign. This is going to be quite different from my last position, I suspect, but I’m definitely ready for a challenge and to learn some new things. Not that I won’t miss the old, but …

Yesterday Alex and I spent the afternoon exploring some neighborhoods in the northeast of London. Since my new commute is going to be quite a bruiser (90 minutes each way if things go perfectly), we’re very gingerly exploring the idea of moving cross town. We have a break clause in our lease that we can enact in August, so we have lots of time still, but it’s not a bad idea to get the lay of the land.

The weather this weekend has been gorgeous, by the way. No ash cloud is noticeable, although the skies are pretty quiet without any airplanes.  Since the airspace-shutdown, it’s really become apparent to me that there are problems when living on an island.  (Even a big one!)  The news says that unless the hold is lifted soon, we might be seeing shortages of certain foodstuffs (like oranges) by the end of the week.  I can’t imagine it will last that long, but who knows?

Oh! In other good news …  Alex is going to Japan in July!  How exciting is that?  He’ll be visiting Tokyo and Osaka for work.  Totally thrilled about it!
